MEET our pastor:
Dr. Towanda Davis
"Pastor Tee"
Dr. Towanda Davila-Davis is a trailblazer, leader, and woman of unwavering faith. A native of Miami, Florida, she is a proud graduate of Bethune-Cookman University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications with a minor in Broadcast Journalism.
Driven by a passion for biblical scholarship and spiritual leadership, Dr. Davis pursued theological studies, earning both a Master of Theology and a Doctor of Theology from Z.E. Brown Bible College. Her commitment to lifelong learning later led her to Florida State University, where she obtained a Master of Science in Risk Management and Insurance, further equipping her for leadership in both ministry and public service.
With more than 32 years of distinguished service in Human Services, Dr. Davis has held key leadership, training, and policy roles at both the state and federal levels. Prior to retiring in 2018, she served as Florida’s Training Director for Social Security Disability within the Division of Disability Determinations, where she helped shape training initiatives and workforce development across the state.
Currently, she serves as Chief of Staff to Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox, where she continues to make a meaningful impact through strategic leadership, community engagement, and advocacy for the citizens of Tallahassee and Leon County. In 2017, during one of the most challenging seasons of her life—her second battle with cancer—God birthed Elevate Church Tallahassee. In the face of uncertainty, she chose faith over fear, stepping out like Abraham with full confidence in God’s voice: "The time is now." Seven years later, Elevate Church is thriving, a powerful ministry committed to breaking religious norms, reaching the lost, and leading people to experience God in a fresh, transformative way.
Her unconventional yet undeniable anointing is a force that ignites change, revives souls, and draws people into an authentic relationship with God. Beyond the pulpit, Dr. Davis is the Founder of the Cancer Knockout Foundation and El Rapha Ministries, both dedicated to healing, hope, and restoration.
Dr. Davis is deeply rooted in community service, serving as an Associate Member of the Tallahassee Jack and Jill of America and Regional Photographer for the South Atlantic Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In 2018, she was honored as one of Tallahassee Democrat’s “25 Women You Need to Know,” a testament to her profound influence. Dr. Davis is also an entrepreneur and creative visionary, owning and operating Ashley Graphics, Multi-Media & Web Design, and Towanda Davis Photography.
Her passion for storytelling extends beyond the pulpit into the digital world, where she crafts compelling visual narratives. Dr. Davis has been happily married for 28 years to Christopher Davis, her steadfast partner in life and ministry. Together, they have a beautiful daughter, Kameryn Davis, whom she calls her pride, joy, and greatest gift from God. She lives by Marianne Williamson’s powerful words:
"May every aspect of my being be converted to Truth. May every cell fall into place and serve a higher plan. I no longer wish to be who I was. I wish to be more." And that is exactly what she does—elevating lives, breaking barriers, and fulfilling God’s higher plan.
