Pastor Dr. Towanda Theresa Davila-Davis: A Remarkable Journey of Faith and Leadership

Meet Pastor Dr. Towanda Theresa Davila-Davis, a Miami native who has embarked on an extraordinary journey of faith and leadership. She holds a BS Degree in Communications with a Minor in Broadcast Journalism from Bethune-Cookman University. Furthermore, she has post-graduate degrees, including a Masters in Risk Management and Insurance from Florida State University, as well as a Masters and Doctorate of Theology from Z. E. Brown Bible College.

With over 32 years of experience in the field of Human Services, working in various capacities within State and Federal Government, Dr. Davis has demonstrated her commitment to service and leadership.

Prior to her retirement from the State of Florida, she served as the Florida Training Director for Social Security Disability in the Division of Disability Determinations. Currently, she serves as the Chief of Staff to Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox in the Commissioners and Mayors Office.

In 2018, Dr. Davis faced her second battle with cancer, this time a Stage IV GIST (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor). Despite the challenges, she persevered, putting her trust in God. It was during this challenging period that she answered the call to pastor Elevate Church Tallahassee.

Elevate Church Tallahassee was born out of one of the most difficult seasons of her life. Despite her physical struggles, Dr. Davis believed she heard the voice of the Lord saying, "The time is now." Just as Abraham did, she stepped out in faith, trusting in God's guidance. Along the way, God has affirmed His presence every step of the way.

As the Pastor of Elevate, her goal is to lead people into the heart and presence of God. Her leadership is characterized by a deep passion for winning souls for Christ. Driven by her faith, she believes she has been anointed with an unconventional ministry to fulfill that purpose.

Outside of her pastoral role, Dr. Davis remains active in her community. She founded the Cancer Knockout Foundation, a testament to her dedication to serving others.

Additionally, she serves as the Regional Photographer for the South Atlantic Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Dr. Davis's remarkable accomplishments have been recognized by being named one of the "25 Women You Need to Know" by the Tallahassee Democrat in 2018. She is also a member of Leadership Tallahassee. Furthermore, she owns and operates Towanda Davis Wedding Photography, a 35-year-old minority-owned business.

Dr. Davis is married to Christopher Davis, and their union has been a source of joy and blessings for over 27 years. Their greatest accomplishment is their daughter Kameryn Davis, who is a cherished gift from God.

Inspired by the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Pastor Dr. Towanda Theresa Davila-Davis lives out her calling not only in moments of comfort and convenience but also in the face of challenges and controversies. Her leadership, faith, and unwavering commitment to winning souls for Christ serve as an inspiration to all who encounter her.
